Chapter 33, section 13-3301, define "gambling" as risking something of value in a contest of chance or skill. It is unlawful in Arizona unless it falls under the category of "social gambling". "Social gambling" is any gambling that is not a gambling business, and a game where the players are competing on equal terms and are not competing against the house. Home poker games qualify.

Thanks for making the 2007 a great year of poker playing!
For 2008, a buy-in ,e.g. $5.00, $25.00, $10.00 will be taken from every pot to cover for trophy, plaques, wristbands, etc. The house will not keep any proceeds. Also, now the grand champion at the end of the year will be determined by the point system. Points will be issued as follows:
1st place- 10 points
2nd place- 5 points
For informal tournaments the points will be issued as follows:
1st place- 15 points
2nd place- 10 points
3rd place- 5 points
For formal tournaments the points will be issued as follows:
1st place- 25 points
2nd place- 10 points
3rd place- 5 points
We will try to hold atleast one tournament a month, but bracelet qualifying tournaments will be every 4 months and will be announced as a qualifying tournament.
For those that win a bracelet qualifying tournament and wear their bracelets to the regularly scheduled poker games will get an extra $500 in chips, per bracelet, on the initial buy in! Also, when the cards are flipped to see who will be the dealer whomever has the first highest card (player closest to the person flipping the cards clockwise) will become the dealer and be issued $500 more in chips for free. If bracelet holders get the high card then they too will be given $500 more in chips.
Also the house hosting the poker game will be issued 10 points for their effort. If it is a couple's house, both must play in order to receive the points. If only one is present and plays then only that person receives the points.
NEW RULES
The above rule has been changed! We are now going to play with Big and Small blinds and with antes. Also, unlimited play will begin after one hour of play. The blinds and antes will be programmed into the Genie and will go up every 10 minutes.
Once a game has started you will not be allowed to move positions. Positions will be determined by picking a number from the papers that have been folded with a number on it. You must remain through out the game in the same order you began receiving cards. For example if you are player 5 and player three is kicked out, you can not move into that players seat as you will change the order that player 4 will now be receiving cards. DEAD BUTTON RULE
If the big blind busts out, the button moves to the player that posted the small blind and the player to the left of the former big blind assumes the big blind. There is no small blind for that hand. On the following deal, the button now moves to the open seat (the seat vacated by the eliminated big blind player)and the two players to the left post the normal blinds. This will result in the same player being the dealer two hands in a row.
When the small blind busts out, the button does not move. The player who was the big blind will now post the small blind and the player to his left will post the big blind. This will result in the same player being the dealer two hands in a row.
Three players remain:
Player1 (Button), Player2 (SB), Player3 (BB). If player1 is eliminated-player2 is (BB) and player3 is the SB and Button. If player2 is eliminated- player1 is the BB and player3 is the SB and Button. If player3 is eliminated- player1 is the BB and player2 is the SB and Button.
In heads-up play with two blinds, the small blind is on the button.
A new player has the following options:
(a) wait for the big blind before he can play
(b) Post an amount equal to the big blind and immediately be dealt a hand.
A player that re-buys, after leaving the table, or not playing a live hand is considered a new player and must post the amount of the big blind or wait for the big blind. A player that busts out after going all-in and immediately re-buys (if able to per rules) will not be considered a new player.
The 2008 Grand Champion will be determined by the player who has the most points at the end of the year, final game in December. The winner will get 100% of whatever amount of money is left in the pokerfun fund along with the 2008 grand champion trophy.
Of course everything is subject to change upon the agreement of the players. All other rules in play will continue into 2008.
